training

Based at Cambridge Airport, MASF offers high quality instruction in a superb training environment. Pilots have been gaining their licences at Cambridge since the 1930s, benefitting from a comercial airport that offers both hard and grass runways as well as a full air traffic control service. This setting prepares students for the challenges of visiting all kinds of other airfields and, for those considering the modular route to the Commercial Pilot's Licence, it is an ideal location to start your training.

The minimum requirement for the PPL is 45 hours flight time, of which 10 hours must be solo flying and includes 5 hours of cross-country navigation

.

Cambridge Airport is a great place to learn to fly and Mid-Anglia School of Flying is the right choice for students who want the best training available.

As a student, you will need to complete 45 hours flying, pass 9 multi-choice exams and a skills test. It's a real challenge, but rewarding and great fun - and you can take things at your own pace.

Our students are from all walks of life and all ages. You can start learning to fly at any age and,  from 14,  your time will count towards your llicence. Younger pilots must be 16 years old in order to fly solo and all pilots must pass a medical examination before their solo flights.

At MASF, our emphasis is on safety. As such, our aircraft are maintained to the highest standards and instruction is carried out by highly qualified and experienced instructors.

Our training rate is: £240 per hour

As part of the training course, students will fly to several other airfields and landing fees will vary depending on the services on offer.

There are other additional costs, such as home-base landing fees, exams, membership and equipment to consider, but these can be spread over the course of the training.
