Le Touquet Trip

The rain stopped, the sun made a welcome appearance, the TAF was flyable and finally, after lots of planning, arranging and  re-arranging, it actually happened!

The Intrepid Mid-Anglia Folk, plotted their plogs, remembered their passports (yes everyone did!), donned their life-jackets and assembled for photographic proof before heading for the prestigious French resort of Le Touquet - or LFAT to those who were doing the flying.

Five aircraft took to the skies and met up again at what was a very busy day the French airport, paid their landing fees and having formed an orderly party sauntered into town in search of a restaurant with enough room to seat them all. Several crepes, pommes frites & (unbelievably!) pizzas later they resumed their investigation of the historical coastal town. Down by the beach and unsuspecting ice-cream man was beseiged and his ample stock depleted considerably - no names but there was at least one aficionado de glace present! A bit more exchanging of euros, a matey stroll back to the airport and a crew change and back to Blighty!

A fab day, new friends made, and a valuable experience for all student pilots/ new PPL's. All single engined aircraft had a Commercial Pilot on board, Trev flew India Golf both ways with right-hand man James Merry.
Here's the line-up:

G-BAIG       Trev Lewis, James Merry, Phil Crawford, Emma Holland, Xiaolin Wu
G-MASF     Gavin Brooker, John Cramer, Ted Thompson, Nancy Thompson
G-OTYP      Nick Paterson, Martin Hutchins, Andrew Newbold, Ryan Young
G-BFWB     Simon Grace, Tom McKenna, Tim Stemp
G-JASE      Mark Sollis, Mel Everitt, Diyari Abdah

And now? - planning the next trip of course!
